How do you explain bar exam stress to people who have not done it?
My partner has been very patient and also keeps saying things like "but you have already done law school" which is meant kindly and is not landing.
Has anyone found a way to describe it that actually gets across?

Dropping the difficulty framing worked for me, since that is what invites the law school comparison in the first place.
I said everything depends on one day and I cannot control the day. That landed immediately with someone who had never sat an exam like it.
Trying that tonight. The one day part is exactly it.
Mine understood when I said the job offer is conditional on it. Suddenly it was not an exam, it was a thing with consequences attached, and the patience went up a lot.
I gave up explaining and just asked for specific things instead. Do not ask me how studying went, do ask me if I want to go for a walk. That worked better than any explanation.
Asking for the specific thing rather than the understanding is probably where I have been going wrong.
my mum has asked me four times if I am nervous about my "law test" π
